Certifying documents

Salary assessment applications that are submitted on an EP7 form need to have certified copies of any supporting documentation emailed with the form. This page explains how to have documents certified.

If you're using the salary assessment application portal (the portal), the principal of your school will certify your documents within the portal, you will just need to show them the original versions or certified copies of the originals.

To create a certified copy, you'll need to make copies of your original document, and have the original documents sighted and the copies certified by a:

  • NZ or overseas school principal
  • NZ or overseas solicitor
  • NZ Justice of the Peace
  • NZ or overseas police officer (with badge number)
  • Registrar or Deputy Registrar of the court.

See Section 9. Oaths and Declarations Act 1957 for a complete list.

The certified paper copy must include, on every page:

  • this statement (or similar): “This is a true copy of the original document, which I have sighted”
  • the signature and position of the person certifying the copy
  • the date it was certified.
Then you can scan your certified documents and attach them to the email with your EP7 form. Go to EdPay and forms to download the form.
