Certifying documents

Salary assessment applications that are submitted on an EP7 form need to have certified copies of any supporting documentation emailed with the form. This page explains how to have documents certified.

If you're using the salary assessment application portal (the portal), and you've uploaded any documents that haven't yet been certified, arrange a time to show your principal the originals so that they can certify them in the portal while they verify your application. 

To create a certified copy, you'll need to make copies of your original document, and have the original documents sighted and the copies certified by a:

  • NZ or overseas school principal 
  • NZ or overseas solicitor 
  • NZ Justice of the Peace 
  • NZ or overseas police officer (with badge number) 
  • Registrar or Deputy Registrar of the court.

The certified paper copy must include, on every page: 

  • this statement (or similar): “This is a true copy of the original document, which I have sighted” 
  • the signature and position of the person certifying the copy  
  • the date it was certified.
