You may need to contact an education sector agency during the salary assessment application process.

Immigration New Zealand

International qualifications must be assessed by NZQA before they can be included in a salary assessment unless they are on Immigration New Zealand's list of international qualifications that are exempt from assessment. Make sure to check all special conditions.

Inland Revenue (IR)

Issues IRD numbers, each person's unique tax indentifier.

Ministry of Education (MoE)

Government's lead advisor on the NZ education system. MoE sets the salary assessment rules and processes and maintains the salary assessment application portal.
Each school sector's collective agreement may have different rules around salary assessment.

New Zealand Qualifications Authority (NZQA)

International qualifications must be assessed by NZQA before they can be included in a salary assessment, unless the qualification is on NZQA's list of pre-approved international teacher qualifications (also known as NZQA exempt).

Teaching Council of Aotearoa New Zealand (Teaching Council)

Issues NZ teaching registration certificates.

Salary Assessment

No new portal applications from 18 September

From Wednesday 18 September 2024, please submit new salary assessment applications using EdPay forms as the portal will no longer accept new applications. Applications that have been submitted up until 18 September will still be processed.
