New appointment

When a new appointment is made at a school, the new position must be created.
A new position must be created for:

  • an employee who is new to the school or who is starting a new job at the school
  • an employee who is currently on the payroll and who is starting an additional job.

Only the Education Payroll Service Centre can create appointment records. The school can modify some details once the record is set up in EdPay.

If possible, send any required forms to the employee with their appointment letter. Include a covering letter that explains what to complete, and provide a timeframe for them to return the forms to ensure that their pay will be accurate on their first payday. See the Payroll calendar to determine the cut-off date for instructions in their first pay period.
