Payroll Update 17 December 2021

News for School Payroll Staff

Kia ora
This is our final Payroll Update for 2021. It’s been a particularly challenging year for schools and we’d like to thank you for your support and feedback throughout the year as we rolled out new EdPay functions and switched off Novopay Online. We wish you all a very Meri Kirihemete and a safe and relaxing break.

Streamlining of the pay cycle

In response to our bank’s intention to no longer support our ‘stop pay’ facility, we are in the process of redesigning some aspects of our fortnightly pay cycle. Once we’ve finalised the details we’ll be in touch, well in advance of any changes taking effect. In the meantime, the current ‘stop pay’ process still applies. We’re targeting early term two 2022 for the first streamlined pay cycle, so look out for regular communications, beginning in the New Year.

EdPay End of Year a success

This year’s EdPay EOY process went very smoothly, with feedback telling us that schools found it much easier to complete. Our recent customer survey showed a 95% satisfaction rate overall, including 38% of the 532 respondees reporting that they were extremely satisfied. Overall feedback has been very positive, with one of our survey respondents saying: “The end of year process was great this year – can’t think of any improvements. Way easier than Novopay Online. Loving EdPay!”

EdPay Start of Year 2022 going well

We’ve had a high level of uptake and positive feedback about the EdPay Start of Year (SoY) process. Lynne, a payroll admin from one of our Wellington schools, told us on the day SoY opened, “SoY DONE AND DUSTED!!  Can’t believe it, very smooth”.

SoY 2022 closes on 25 February at 5pm. For everything you need to know, check out our website

Things to note for Pay Period 20

Due to a shortened pay cycle in this pay period:

  • please ensure that all of your timesheets and leave are entered in EdPay by 20 December at 5pm so that people are paid in Pay Period 20
  • there is only one draft SUE report on 21 December, which will include termination pay. There is No second draft SUE
  • the final SUE report will be on 23 December
  • there are no stop pays due to statutory holidays.
  • the pay day for Pay Period 20 will be 24 December instead of 29 December.

Our hours over the break

Our School Account Team will be answering the phones during the normal phone hours (9.30am – 3.30pm) over the Christmas period on all weekdays that are not national public holidays (29–31 December) and will be back to normal from 5 January onwards.
