Strike action - unlawful or "wild cat" strikes
Background
An unlawful strike happens outside of collective bargaining, for reasons other than health and safety. It's sometimes known as a "wild cat" strike. There may be little or no notice, and it could involve both union and non-union members across the sector (not just teachers).
School boards can suspend employees who take part and instruct Education Payroll to recover any overpayments relating to the strike.
Recovering overpayments
In the event of an unlawful strike, please use the Unlawful strike template to recover overpayments.
