Whakataukī for our End of Year process
Kua hua te marama
The moon is full. This whakataukī celebrates the successful end of a cycle.
Overview of the End of Year process
What is the purpose of End of Year?
The End of Year (EOY) process makes sure all employees are paid correctly over the term four holidays.
EOY screen
The EOY screen in EdPay opens on Wednesday 15 October and closes on Wednesday 19 November.
What we need from you
We need to know the answers to these four questions:
1. Is your school’s term four end date correct?
2. Which employees' jobs are ending (terminating) in term four this year?
3. Which continuing (ie, still employed by the school next year) employees’ last day of duty this year is different to your school's term four end date?
4. Have you booked annual leave for your 52-week workers?
If you completed last year’s End of Year process, this year’s will be very similar.
EOY resources and information
We’ve created some resources to help you complete your End of Year tasks.
• End of Year guide (PDF, 947KB)
• End of Year website information (EdPay.govt.nz)
• End of Year video (opens in vimeo.com, 2.49 mins)
• End of Year/Start of Year key dates flyer (PDF, 136KB)
When End of Year opens on 15 October, these resources will also be available in the EOY toolbox on our website and on EdPay.
Key points
We want to highlight these key points before you begin End of Year. This information is all in the End of Year guide.
Key dates
Here are the key dates for End of Year.
Payroll emergency contact over the term break
Please let us know which of your school’s authorised users is your designated emergency contact. We need someone we can get in touch with if there is a payroll issue during the term four holidays. Email their name, phone number (home or mobile) and email address to support@novopay.govt.nz with “Emergency contact” in the subject line.
If you've already told us who your contact will be (in your response to the End of Year/Start of Year survey), you don't need to do anything.
Thank you for answering our End of Year / Start of Year Survey
We're working through your responses and will be adding more guidance where we can, based on your feedback and suggestions.
